We’re happy to announce that DMRVA now supports connecting hotspots to our network. This capability is managed by us, and connects you directly to our MOTOTRBO & cBridge-based repeater core. No third-party connections are required.
Connection Info
Server: hotspots.dmrva.network
Port: 62031
Password: dmrva
Note: If you are a member of the Beta Test Group, please continue to use your existing credentials.
Setup Tips
We recommend WPSD for Raspberry PI Based hotspots.
To setup your hotspot for DMRVA, enable “Custom DMR Network” in your hotspot settings, and use the information above to setup your connection.
Be sure to disable other DMR Networks, unless you know what you are doing. It is possible to connect to multiple DMR networks with DMR gateway, but it requires careful configuration.

All Hotspot TGs are on Timeslot 2.

Subscriptions and Hang Time Functionality
When your hotspot connects to the manager, you are subscribed to all of the above TGs by default. If you don’t want to subscribe to all of them, please see “Options String” below.
When there is activity on one of your subscribed TGs in either direction (RF Side or Net side), a hang timer is placed on your hotspot feed for that TG, and other TGs are locked out until the activity ceases and the hang time expires. This is necessary to avoid slot contention. Currently the hang time is set to 15 seconds.
After 15 seconds of no activity on the TG, the lockout on other TGs is removed and they are fed to your hotspot again.
NOTE: The same Radio ID that originally keyed up a TG may clear the lockout hang timer by keying up another TG when the channel is not busy. Hang time will then apply to the new TG.
Options String
Hotspots that are compatible MMDVMHost/DMRGateway settings will allow you to subscribe to TGs via the OPTIONS setting when you initially connect. We currently only feed the above listed TGs to the hotspot network, but you can request a subset of them if you don’t want to subscribe to all of them.
Subscription Example:
OPTIONS=TS2=3151, 31511, 31513
This Options String will direct the server to only feed Virginia Statewide, RVA Metro and Southwest Virginia to your hotspot on Timeslot 2. We only support Timeslot 2 currently, so requests on Timeslot 1 will be ignored. If you want all TGs we carry fed to you, just leave this setting blank.
It is possible to send a new Options String and update your subscription without having to reconnect, but most MMDVM hotpot software does not support this.
We reserve the right to make changes to the network, block, or otherwise restrict access at any time without notice or explanation.
